Globe ties up with Canadian NGO vs child abuse
MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom partnered with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P) in its fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
On Friday, Globe said it tapped the services of C3P, a Canadian charity dedicated to the personal safety of children, following a meeting hosted by the Department of Justice.
C3P is based in Winnipeg, Canada, and maintains a comprehensive list of so-called harmful websites built using a web crawler or internet bot called Project Arachnid.
“We are committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation,” Globe general counsel Froilan Castelo said in a statement.
In 2016, Globe launched the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), which focuses on the prevention of online abuse and cyberbullying, protection of one’s digital identity, critical thinking, and overall online responsibility.
Globe said DTP had been integrated into the K-12 curriculum of the Department of Education.
