Marriott’s latest innovation to redefine events in PH
Hotels nowadays have clearly stepped up their game. Latest innovation
In the Philippines, a new venue beckons to host events with the surety of grandeur.
Beginning 2020 on a high note, Manila Marriott Hotel unveiled MGBX Convention Hall, an added 3,300 sqm of space befitting huge social gatherings. It was also Marriott’s response to the rising need for spaces to host meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE)—offering more options with a Marriott flair.
“We’re excited to unveil the latest innovation at Marriott Hotel Manila: the MGBX Convention Hall,” said Bruce Winton, cluster general manager of Marriott Philippines.
“MGBX is part of our grand vision to redefine the event experience in the Philippines and capitalize on the rapid expansion of the Philippine MICE market and its increasing capacity requirements. With the addition of MGBX not only will we now be able to further cater to the Exhibition segments, we will also be able to feed 4,000 guests in a single venue, demand for which we have turned away until now,” Winton said.
MGBX was built for the particularities of exhibitions and conferences. It features a large pre-function area, measuring 1,092 sqm, which can be used for socializing and networking. Two meeting rooms can take up pre-event meetings and breakout sessions. The convention hall itself is flexible easily converting into three rooms offering more than 900 sqm of space.
Unparalleled
This latest facility adds to the renowned Marriott Grand Ballroom (MGB), which today remains unparalleled in sheer size and functionality—a massive complex equivalent to 20 basketball courts combined.
Opened in 2015, the MGB is the largest hotel convention facility. It has aptly showcased Filipino hospitality and taste to the world when it successfully hosted important international gatherings, such as the Asean 2017 and Apec 2015 meetings. MGB boasts of 28 meeting rooms, including the Philippines’ largest pillarless hotel ballroom.
The addition of MGBX will now enable Manila Marriott Hotel to cater to the growing Exhibition segment, and have as many as 4,000 guests in a single venue.
An advantage that has reeled in a loyal clientele is MGB’s versatility. The main ballroom can host 4,000 guests for cocktails and 2,500 for banquets. The wide lobby and foyer can provide additional space for trade fairs and exhibitions. The Sky Boxes, which are highly customizable meeting rooms, provide an unobstructed view of the main ballroom. MGB can provide for an intimate board meeting, a fashion show, an automotive exhibition, and even a sporting event.
Behind this adaptability is state-of-the-art technology that Marriott Hotel Manila pioneered in the country’s hotel industry. Facilities and lifts are good for massive movements of people and equipment, including cars. Inside the main ballroom, professional steel platforms and catwalk structures allow clients to execute world-class, inspired productions.
It has 129-foot ceilings and an 86-foot catwalk for staging professional sound, light and technology displays. A floating ceiling of light pillows can be raised, lowered and lit any color to create a unique ambience.
Furthermore, the ballroom is equipped with six 8,000-lumen LCD projectors and screens, a world-class digital live audio mixer, and 36 Galileo loudspeaker management system.
Impressive facilities
Just like MGB, MGBX also has high-tech audiovisual systems, adjustable lighting and a reliable access to the internet— necessary for event organizers to awe and inspire their guests.
Manila Marriot can host events as small as intimate board meetings to something grander such
as a fashion show, an automotive exhibition, and even a sporting event.
From the MGB, other facilities including the 916-sqm Manila Ballroom are integrated via Sky Bridge. This provides seamless continuity between event spaces and accommodations. Through the Sky Bridge, guests will have access to more dining outlets and to the rest of Resorts World Manila.
