The event was attended by more than 2,000 workers.

It was the perfect culmination to such a noble cause.

The Ynares Stadium in Pasig, which has long served as the venue for many prestigious competitions, saw a different kind of celebration as Suntrust Properties’ 20th year anniversary celebration came to a close.

FEATURED STORIES

This time, it was the unsung heroes of the industry who was put at the front and center of the celebration, thus giving the event an even deeper, more significant meaning for Suntrust and all its employees.

Unsung heroes

“We have decided to give back and pay it forward to our unsung heroes—our construction workers at the site, and the least recognized sales persons. I think this is what makes us different from the rest because in Suntrust, we always encourage our people to do selfless acts. In fact, we have a creed that we follow and we require our people to take it to heart,” Suntrust president Atty. Harry Paltongan said on the sidelines of the company’s celebration on Thursday.

“We always encourage our people to go beyond their personal interests, to always think about what they can do to further grow the organization, and truly make a difference in the lives of our workers,” he added.

The celebration saw participants lining up as early as 7 a.m. to avail of various services that were offered in the event and to participate in the activities prepared by the Suntrust employees themselves. After the registration, participants lined up for the different services that included free medical and dental check ups, while others chose to play games or avail of the free hair cut and massage.

Indeed, a different kind of energy took over the entire venue as participants enjoyed a day that was specifically planned for them.

But what made it even more meaningful was the fact that the treats came from the Suntrust employees themselves who were also present during the event and were the ones busy facilitating the activities to ensure the celebration’s success.

“It’s a privilege for us to be given the opportunity to serve and give back to these people who played a big role in the company’s success. Suntrust’s Benteng Hiling gave us a means to become the givers as the wishes were granted not by the company but the employees themselves. The objective really is to make our people realize how blessed and lucky they are to be given a stable job and the chance to do good for others,” Paltongan explained.

“The idea is to make the Suntrustees think of others before themselves. In that way, we are able to encourage them to be truly grateful for what they have and look beyond their personal concerns. The campaign has also allowed our employees to better appreciate what they have and also recognize the contribution of various workers involved in Suntrust projects,” he further said.

Fulfilling

Meanwhile, the whole-day celebration saw some of the best performances from the workers and Suntrustees as various song and dance numbers were showcased during this festive affair. A number of prizes were also given away during the event’s games, raffles and various contests.

Games and other activities made the event even more enjoyable

“We believe that by being good to your workers, you encourage them to do good in their tasks as well. And this, in a way, is what will allow your company to flourish. In the case of Suntrust, we hope that this will also translate to our workers delivering a job well done,” Paltongan related.

“Seeing the joy in the face of our workers gives us fulfillment. Again, all we want is for these people to continuously feel how important they are in the entire Suntrust organization and for us to build an even stronger relationship with them to ensure that we are able to effectively relay our mission and message to them as our builders,” Paltongan concluded.
