Cloud Security Alliance marks new milestone with CSA Philippines Summit 2017
At the first Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Philippines Summit last July 11, twenty-six leading IT companies and start-ups demonstrated innovations across sectors of Cloud technology including Security, Datacenter, Enterprise, Mobile Apps, and E-Commerce.
The CSA PH Summit was held at the Golden Ballroom of Okada Manila, and attracted over 282 C-levels, government dignitaries, and decision makers. The one-day Summit had over 700 in attendance – the largest number of attendees at Okada Manila for an event of this type.
Dr. Lee Hing-Yan, Executive Vice President of CSA APAC, and Hon. Raymund Liboro, Chairman of National Privacy Commission, opened the Summit addressing both international and local insights on Cloud Security and Data Privacy respectively. The event was also attended by high-profile individuals in the tech and IT industry.
“I’m very delighted to be here in Manila to witness the launch of the Philippine Chapter. You join a big family of 30 chapters in Asia Pacific, and over 70 chapters worldwide” said CSA APAC Executive Vice President, Dr. Lee Hing-Yan. “[CSA believes] it is very important to educate and to get lots of support in using the Cloud especially in knowing all the issues [concerning Cloud]. We have to understand that using the Cloud is a shared responsibility between the user and the customer.”
Anthony Lim, Marketing Director of CSA APAC, adds, “CSA exists to do research, advocacy, consulting, and certification to tell you Cloud is safe.”

Through the integration of Data Privacy and Cloud Computing, together, we can contribute to developing a high-trust, competitive, knowledge-based, and innovative Philippines.”
Meanwhile, Undersecretary Denis Villorente of DICT is positive of the government’s direction and strategy of migrating to the Cloud, “We have the technology; with CSA here, we will be able to develop the capacity of people to really leverage on the promise of Cloud and accelerate our ability to put more services online [in the Cloud].
Among the highlights of the event were the much-awaited Panel Discussion on “Top Threats to Cloud Computing,” and Press Conference attended by both CSA APAC and PH leaders, and local CIOs of various companies. Lucky delegates also won exclusive prizes from the Summit partners and Speakers.
Ryan Ty, Chair of CSA Philippines, shares his vision to the delegation: “Let’s make the Philippines a first world country. Let’s get the next generation ready, and let’s elevate our way of living using cloud technology.”
