It was a battle of the hybrids: Audi versus Toyota. The German brand had already won 11 previous Le Mans 24 Hours, while Toyota had come tantalizingly close at second place. The Japanese brand was keen to become the second company from its home country to win the prestigious race, the first being Mazda with its famous rotary engine.

Premium automotive manufacturer Audi has officially announced actress Anne Curtis as newest brand ambassador for the Philippines. The street-smart and gregarious Curtis will now be heavily involved in the launch of Audi’s latest compact SUV model, the Q3.

Subaru, Audi and Mitsubishi reported their best sales performances during the first four months of the year. Motor Image Pilipinas Inc. (Mipi), the exclusive distributor of Subaru brand of vehicles in the Philippines, registered a record-breaking 94-percent growth after selling 577 units, compared to the 297 units sold in the same period of last year.
Audi has joined forces with Disney and Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment LLC for the release of Marvel’s “Iron Man 3,” due in theaters on May 3, 2013. The brand will once again be highlighted throughout the entire film. The Audi R8, R8 Spyder, A8, S5, and Q7 were all featured in the first and second installments.
Aside from Audi being the most successful premium brand in China, the biggest automotive market in the world, it has also jumpstarted the year with multiple awards.
Every year the editors of the “MIT Technology Review” look for companies all over the world that have announced ground-breaking technologies. This year the jury put Audi on the list of “50 Disruptive Companies” in recognition of the piloted driving project it presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Detroit.

When it comes to launching a new product with glitz and glamor, few can match Robert Coyiuto Jr., chairman of PGA Cars Inc., the sole importer and distributor of Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini in the Philippines.
Audi continues to grow at a double-digit rate as the company reported worldwide deliveries up 10.9 percent on the same month of 2011 to around 123,600 automobiles.
Audi continues to grow in all regions around the world, as deliveries in August increased by 14.9 percent on the corresponding prior-year month, to reach some 108,100 automobiles.

Why so serious, Audi? Even when they are inviting us out for a drive with fun vehicles like the TT sports car, the brand telegraphs purpose and a sheer determination to conquer all with its technology. Progress-through technology pays off handsomely when it comes to winning Le Mans, first with diesels and now with diesel-electric hybrids, beating even Toyota at the hybrid game.
