MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country's largest business organization, said Monday it will uphold due process and support the Supreme Court's decision on executive privilege.
In an issued statement, the PCCI also called for the public, especially the private business sector, ?to set aside partisan politics and together continue to move forward for greater economic development.?
PCCI stressed the importance of the "rule of law" and "faith in institutional process" in maintaining the democratic ideals of the country and its institutions.
"We have to abide with the processes that guide our Constitution and the institutions that operate within that framework. The Supreme Court's role as the sole interpreter of our Constitution and government policies should not be undermined more so, its credibility and integrity should never be questioned," PCCI said.
PCCI maintains that the pre-eminent role of the Supreme Court as a Constitutional body providing check and balance in government affairs must be upheld.
"PCCI as the voice of business supports all means of processes and procedures that are found within the ideals of the Constitution. PCCI's existence and advocacy thrives in the upholding of government institutions and respect to their functions, operations, procedures and decisions," PCCI concluded.
