G2iX and Exist to host code sprint in partnership with Globe Labs
Manila, May 20, 2009 -- Global Gateway Innovation Exchange (G2iX), a global innovation leader in the delivery of technology services, partnered with Globe Telecom?s new innovation-driven group, Globe Labs, to host a ?sprint? competition open to iPhone AppStart developers. IPhone AppStart, which focuses primarily on helping developers build their skills in iPhone application development, is organized with Exist, the software
engineering services subsidiary of G2iX.
iPhone AppStart kicked off last April 25 at the G2VC Tech Bar in Manila with further lecture and hands-on exercises proceeding last Saturday. The event culminates with a code sprint that takes place May 30 and 31.
Paul Gadi, Director of Interactive Services at G2iX, said, ?We expect the introduction of iPhone AppStart to promote awareness and provide the fundamentals of iPhone application development. An interactive program has been designed to offer participants ample opportunities to connect and collaborate. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the confidence to develop their first iPhone application.?

Apple reports that since August 2008, it has generated over 1 billion application downloads for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Apple?s application marketplace has more than 35,000 applications available today in 77 countries. Some applications are provided for free and some are downloaded with a fee starting at $0.99 per download.
