New transmission lines to improve Bohol’s power situation
MANILA — The province of Bohol can expect a better power situation as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) targets to complete the Cebu-Bohol 230 kilovolt (kV) line this December.
On Tuesday, the NGCP energized the Dumanjug-Corella 230 kV Line 1 and Dumanjug 70 megavolt amperes reactive (MVAR) that will deliver power to Bohol from Cebu.
The newly energized lines are part of the Cebu-Bohol 230 kV Interconnection Project, with a capacity of 600 MW and allows direct access to power from Cebu, complementing the existing Leyte-Bohol submarine cable.

The Cebu-Bohol Interconnection Project is also expected to ease congestion in the Leyte-Bohol 138 kV interconnection, potentially reducing electricity costs for consumers.
The DOE also stressed the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to complete the nearly 70 transmission line projects on time as outlined in the Transmission Development Plan, particularly the Batangas-Mindoro Interconnection Project and the Northern Luzon 230 kV loop.
