Cebu Pacific, PAL mount more coronavirus vaccine deliveries

MANILA, Philippines—Domestic carriers Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines (PAL) continued vaccine deliveries, supporting efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cebu Pacific said over the weekend that it carried a fresh batch of one million vaccine doses from Beijing while PAL completed delivery missions to Bacolod and Butuan.

Cebu Pacific, whose delivery was made using a chartered A330 flight, said this was its fourth vaccine shipment from China.

“We remain grateful for the opportunity to support the government’s vaccination program,” Alex Reyes, chief strategy officer at Cebu Pacific, said in a statement.

“We are keen to transport the vaccines, whether internationally or domestically, so that our national vaccination campaign meets its targets,” he added.

Last week, Cebu Pacific flew a total of 51,800 vaccine doses to five cities outside Metro Manila–Puerto Princesa, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Zamboanga and Tuguegarao.

The budget carrier said it transported 3.5 million vaccine doses from China to Manila and more than 1.1 million doses to various parts of the Philippines since March this year.

PAL said it has flown a total 2.4 million vaccine doses from overseas and about a million doses to different areas in the Philippines.

PAL’s recent domestic deliveries involved 10,000 Sinovac doses to Bacolod and 3,250 doses to Butuan. Last week, it mounted missions to Davao, Cebu, Iloilo and Puerto Princesa.
