AirAsia PH to relaunch Bohol flights for essential, leisure trips starting Dec. 1

AirAsia Philippines is resu­ming flights between Manila and Bohol province beginning Dec. 1 this year—a part of steps to restore its flight network amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

AirAsia Philippines announced four weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from Dec. 1-15. This will then increase to daily flights from Dec. 16-31.

“We are pleased to be able to reopen our services to and from Bohol for both essential and leisure travelers,” AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricardo Isla said in a statement.

“We hope that the resumption of connectivity between both regions will further assist local businesses and enterpri­ses in Bohol. AirAsia will continue to support the national and local governments in their efforts to jump-start the tra­vel and tourism industries in the Philippines,” he added.

AirAsia Philippines said it would serve locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipinos as well as tourists.

The latter would need to show a negative RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test taken within 72 hours of the departure date. They must also submit an online registration form found at tourism.bohol.gov.ph to receive a personal QR code.

Visitors must also show booking confirmation details for hotels or resorts located in the municipalities of Panglao or Dauis (with Ultimate Bohol Experience seal or Certificate of Authority to Ope­rate), according to the carrier.

AirAsia Philippines said leisure travelers would be limited to guests attending meetings, weddings, conventions, exhibits and other similar celebrations with at least six attendees from outside Bohol.

For locally stranded individuals and returning Filipinos from overseas, the requirements are medical certificate issued by a licensed physician, travel clearance issued by the Joint Task Force Covid Shield and certificate of acceptance from the receiving local government unit.
