Premium developer brings high-end legacy to emerging south
Tucked among the restaurants, bars and residential communities in Bel-Air, Makati City is an area brimming with much life through the occupants and families who frequent its high-rise buildings and the upscale Power Plant Mall.
That’s exactly why Rockwell Center has become a staple in conversations when musing about the best retail and office spaces, the most coveted address and the most elegant places to lounge in the metro.
Perhaps these constant conversations across different generations are also the reason behind Rockwell Land Corp.’s latest move: the property giant is expanding to the South—in the developing province of Laguna.
“After creating a masterplanned community in our current 19.1-hectare Rockwell Center in Makati, we look forward to bring the same success to Rockwell South, set to be another flagship development in a much larger scale,” Rockwell Land president and CEO Nestor Padilla earlier said in a statement.
Set to rise in Canlubang, Calamba City is a 63-ha residential development seen as Rockwell Land’s biggest move to date. It is part of its joint venture with Carmelray Property Holdings Inc. and San Ramon Holdings Inc. as they bank on Calabarzon’s economic growth.

Rockwell Land’s initiative to cover more ground outside Metro Manila comes at the right time, with homeowners and investors constantly looking for new space in an ideal and practical location.

Laguna has since become a premier property destination in the South, given the various opportunities made available by the government’s aggressive “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program. The current administration’s move of decentralization opened up new possibilities and options both for developers and investors.
Tourist activities available in Laguna also make it a worthy environment for a new property, the most popular of which being Enchanted Kingdom, a 25-ha theme park in nearby city of Santa Rosa. Outdoor explorers have a variety of places to choose from: the cold springs and falls in Majayjay town, the hiking trails on Mt. Banahaw; or the famous Pagsanjan Falls.
History buffs can likewise enjoy the historic two-story Rizal Shrine in Calamba.
And while going on a road trip with family or friends is always an enjoyable experience, the security of having your own place in this developing city offers much benefits, which only proves that bringing Rockwell Land’s high-end legacy in Makati City to the suburbs in the South is a big yet intelligent move.
