German firm to invest in PH

German solar firm Mp-tec GmbH and Co. KG is keen on investing in the country’s renewable energy sector, saying that the Philippines is well positioned to serve as the platform for its planned expansion in Asia.

In a statement posted on the website of the Philippine embassy in Germany, Mp-tec founder and CEO Michael Preißel was quoted as saying that the Philippines had “European-friendly tendencies” that would complement the company’s plans to expand in the international market.

The German solar system integrator and project developer was optimistic about the Philippine market as Preißel noted the great potential of the renewable energy sector in the country.

Preißel already identified Solarus Partners and SunAsia Energy as Mp-tec GmbH’s strategic partners in the Philippines.

Based on the statement, Mp-tec GmbH conveyed its intention to invest in the Philippines to First Secretary Adrian Cruz and Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Commercial Counselor Jose Antonio Buencamino late last month, during their visit to the company’s headquarters in Eberswalde, Germany.
