In a disclosure on Wednesday, the energy giant said its subsidiary Therma Power-Visayas, Inc. (TPVI) had already received a confirmation letter from the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) about the disconnection.

These plants, it noted, “were completely isolated and disconnected” from the transmission network last March 31.

Based on its February 20 filing to the local bourse, the decommissioning was necessary amid “technical and operational issues of the plants caused mainly by the advanced age of the diesel engines.”
