MANILA, Philippines – Temperatures are rising, and soon, our favorite beaches will be sprawling with tourists who are looking forward to getting tanned this summer.

In fact, AirAsia Philippines said they have already recorded over half a million forward bookings for April and May.

The hottest local destination? The popular Boracay, of course.

Other travelers also booked their flights to Cebu, Tagbilaran, Palawan, and Iloilo.

Overseas, the low-cost airline said travelers were keen on visiting Taipei and Narita.

“Filipinos look forward to taking a quick break, especially during the summer months, either going on a beach trip, reconnecting with loved ones or simply heading home for Holy Week,” AirAsia Philippines communications and public affairs head Steve Dailisan said.

To encourage more travelers to fly, the airline has launched its 4.4 Summer Seat Sale, offering flights for as low as P44 one-way base fare.

The highly exclusive private island located within the municipality of Polillo in Quezon province, however, has welcomed some of the more familiar names who are also among the country’s richest.

Balesin spokesperson Joanna Ongpin Duarte also says they have been hosting “a lot of weddings” on the 500-hectare island.

“It has seven themed villages based on seven famous locations, Balesin included,” Duarte tells Biz Buzz.

And apparently, it’s not just the ultimate wedding destination; it’s a special place for singers, too.

We’re told that the cast of the stage musical “Miss Saigon” recently paid a visit to Balesin Island, along with singer-songwriter Martin Nievera.
