Boholano bizman shot dead in Calbayog City

TACLOBAN CITY — Police investigators in Calbayog City are looking into the killing of a businessman who was shot Wednesday in a daylight attack in Barangay West Awang, Calbayog City, Samar.

Ireneo Claro Socias Jr., 48, and a native of Jetafe town in Bohol, was assisting deliveries for his fried chicken business when the incident happened.

Initial reports revealed that Socias was helping the delivery van driver maneuver the vehicle into the main road at past noon when the two unidentified assailants approached and shot him in the chest.

Socias was immediately transported to Calbayog District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The perpetrators fled on board a motorcycle.

The motive behind the killing as well as the identity of the suspects have yet to be established.
