The NGCP said that the unplanned outage of San Gabriel with 417.4-megawatt that tripped on Wednesday and deration of Santa Clara Power Corporation 1-4 with 150-megawatt each contributed to the grid alert status.
The country’s grid operator has also placed the Luzon grid in yellow status on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. but the alert status was lifted at 6 p.m. due to a decrease in forecast demand.
A yellow alert is issued “when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.”
