Megawide unit cues launch of first of five Cavite towers in 2026

MANILA, Philippines — The real estate arm of Megawide Construction Corp. intends to launch the first of five mid-rise condominium towers in Cavite province by the first quarter of 2026, aiming to help bridge the housing gap in the country through public housing projects.

PH1 World Developers Inc. broke ground for the housing project in Imus City earlier this week.

Eric Gregor Tan, PH1 general manager for horizontal development, said in a Viber message that the second tower would be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, the commercial tower of the 1,100-unit project will be opened by 2028, he added.

“Public-private sector collaboration of these kinds are very encouraging, especially those focusing on underserved segments, such as housing,” Tan said in a statement.

“We believe that this residential development will benefit both Imuseños in the immediate locality and potential residents from Southern Tagalog and Metro Manila,” he added.

The public housing project forms part of the national government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino housing program which was launched nationwide in September 2022.

Data from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) show that the country currently has a housing backlog of 6.5 million units.

Under PH1’s contract with the DHSUD, the company will serve as the project owner and oversee the development process.

Megawide, meanwhile, will be in charge of construction once permits and clearances are secured, PH1 said.

The construction conglomerate last year acquired PH1 from Citicore Holdings Investment Inc. in a P5.2-billion deal.

PH1 in March formed a joint venture with builder ProFriends to develop another project in Imus City — a 380-unit private residential high-rise within Lancaster New City. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
