MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid will once again be placed under yellow alert on Thursday afternoon, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to the NGCP in advisory, the Luzon grid will be placed under yellow alert from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

However, a yellow alert does not necessarily result in a power outage.

The NGCP said current available capacity in Luzon is 15,115 megawatts, while the peak demand is 13,818 megawatts.

Twenty power plants are currently on forced outage — four of which have been so since 2023; three since between January and March 2024; and another 13 since April 2024.

Meanwhile, one power plant is running on derated capacity.

All in all, a total of 1,369.3 megawatts are unavailable to the grid.
