Amid the festivities marking its first cityhood anniversary, the local government of Carmona unveiled visionary plans to drive the city’s progress forward.
The eight-day long celebration, also in honor of Carmona’s 167th founding anniversary, was in fact more than just a revelry for local officials, residents and guests. It was also a bold statement of commitment to push for the growth and development of the city through more meaningful collaborations between the public and private sectors.
Showcasing vibrancy, potential
Led by Cavite 5th District Rep. Roy M. Loyola and Carmona Mayor Dahlia A. Loyola, the opening ceremony set the tone for a series of events showcasing Carmona’s vibrancy. Joining them were Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Cavite Gov. Jonvic C. Remulla, Vice Gov. Athena Tolentino, General Mariano Alvarez Mayor Maricel Echevarria Torres, and Board Member Aidel Belamide.
With this city in Cavite being coined as a “Capital of Possibilities”, the diversity of events that happened throughout its anniversary celebration aptly showed the city’s potential.
After the opening ceremony, colorful floats paraded around the city center, participated by schools, businesses, and socio-civic groups. Some of the other activities include the Loyola Golf Tournament, a trade fair, a job fair, an amateur singing contest, and an awarding ceremony for the city’s top taxpayers, corporate social responsibility programs and non-government organizations.
Flourishing locale
As it is, the local economy of Carmona has already been flourishing.
Prior to becoming a city, it was named the richest municipality in the Philippines in 2021 with P6.212 billion total assets based on government data. It is also currently home to 12 industrial estates and four industrial compounds that house local and foreign manufacturers engaged in the garments, semiconductor, electronics, and steel sectors. Some even call it a “rising smart city”.
Now that it has become a city, the local government is gearing to push forward with ambitious initiatives to elevate its status as a burgeoning economic hub. With its impressive track record and status as a thriving industrial center, Carmona stands poised to capitalize on its strengths and unlock new and better opportunities as a city.
Priming the city for growth
Thus, to further prime the city for growth, the local government has now prioritized the development of the Carmona International City (CIC)—envisioned to generate new jobs and cultivate a conducive business environment for local and international investors.
In collaboration with SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SMPH), SM Development Corp. (SMDC) and SM Supermalls, the local government of Carmona aims to create in CIC a hub for business, leisure, civic spaces, and inclusive growth. This project also demonstrates the merits of meaningful partnerships between the public and private sectors.
“It lays the groundwork for the first of many achievements that we will celebrate together—a future Farmers’ Market, a new SM Mall, and the fulfillment of the entire Carmona International City,” said SMDC president Jose Mari Banzon at the Carmona City Hall groundbreaking last year.
Global standards
With CIC, the city of Carmona envisions a future of new job opportunities, government revenue growth, enhanced real estate values, greater connectivity, and sustainable development. As the city commits to growth and excellence, Carmona is also poised to embrace innovative solutions and adhere to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices that prioritize environmental stewardship and long-term resilience.
As Congressman Loyola had also emphasized, the city is committed to create an even more business-friendly environment, backed by incentives designed to spur economic growth. With its prime location and robust infrastructure, Carmona stands to become an attractive destination for local and international investors seeking lucrative opportunities in a dynamic market.
At the same time, the local government will ensure that amid this progress, its residents will benefit too, through new opportunities, enhanced well-being, and better quality of life.
As Carmona embraces its cityhood, it invites local and international investors to explore the numerous opportunities within its borders, emphasizing fairness, transparency, and a peaceful environment.
