SM Investments gets recognized for green campaign
The Sy family conglomerate, SM Investments Corp., won recognition for its corporate social responsibility activities at the recent 15th Global Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Social Governance Summit and Awards held at Da Nang, Vietnam.
In a statement, SM Investments said it bagged the best environmental excellence award (bronze) during the event.
“We appreciate this award that recognizes SM’s efforts to operate as a steward of responsible economic and social development,” Frederic C. DyBuncio, SM Investments president and CEO, said in the statement.
The company’s sustainability activities are conducted through the SM Green Movement. This is a multiyear campaign “that aims to make sustainability accessible to all by nurturing an ecosystem of stakeholders to live green in the easiest way possible.”
“This campaign covers the SM Group of companies, including SM Investments, SM Supermalls, SM Store and SM Foundation. The initiatives of the Green Movement focus on water recycling, waste segregation, renewable energy, disaster resilience, preservation and conservation, and building sustainable communities,” SM Investments said.
Earlier, the conglomerate also bagged the top spot in two categories in the 13th Institutional Investor Corporate Awards by Hong Kong-based Alpha Southeast Asia magazine. The winners were selected based on a poll of investors and analysts in the region.

SM Investments was also named as one of the top companies with Best Senior Management IR Support and Best Strategic CSR.
The poll was conducted from January to June this year and covered 586 investors and analysts with exposure to the Southeast Asia region.
