Transcom Worldwide Philippines, Inc., a Swedish-owned business process outsourcing firm, opened its first stand-alone Recruitment Hub at 21st Lacson Street, Bacolod City on October 1, 2022. Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez led the inauguration of the facility along with Caroline Co, Transcom’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Marie Vernice De Jesus, Vice President of Operations.
Benitez, who is serving his first year in office, expressed his allout support to the company and vowed to address the operational challenges, mainly power outages and unstable internet connectivity, that are experienced by BPO companies present in Bacolod.
The mayor also shared the city’s education and internship program which seeks to prepare the city’s future workforce for global customer care jobs by aligning students’ competencies with the needs of the BPO industry. The LGU hopes that this will hasten talent recruitment and decrease training costs for companies in the long run.
“Rest assured that the city will be supporting any endeavor that you will undertake now and in the future and we’ll make sure that the city is behind every establishment here 100 percent,” Mayor Benitez told Transcom leaders and employees who were present during the opening of the Recruitment Hub.
Transcom’s newly-inaugurated Recruitment Hub along Lacson Street is meant to augment the recruitment activities that are being conducted on their operations site in Barangay Tangub.
“Job seekers coming from the northern part of Bacolod and from other areas outside the city need not go to our Tangub site as this hub here in this busy area is very accessible,” said Co.
“We expect the hub to process 50 to 100 applicants per day on top of those we cater to daily in Tangub. This will help us meet the demand to increase our headcount by at least 1,000 in the next three months,” she added.
Transcom, which has maintained its brick and mortar operations for more than 10 years in Bacolod, pioneered its Work-At-Home (WAH) Philippine operations in the city in 2021.
The WAH model, since then, allowed the company not only to continue its operations in the midst of the pandemic but also widen its footprint across various key locations in the country while creating more job opportunities for people in the provinces.
Transcom cares for almost 3,000 employees on a mix of brick and mortar and WAH work setup within the island of Negros.
