Raize your driving game

Toyota’s new SUV has tech, safety, and features to make driving exciting

Written by Jason K. Ang

Get ready to raise your driving game with the All-New Toyota Raize. The Raize is the latest addition to Toyota’s SUV lineup. While it is the smallest in the stable, it is certainly not least when it comes to features, technology, and safety. Here are some of the ways that the Raize will elevate your daily driving:

Raise your style: The Raize looks the part of a solid, ready-for-action SUV, while still having a playful edge. The look is muscular and modern, with a large lower grille, multi-element headlamps, and a sculpted bumper section. The two-tone paintwork, which is available exclusively for the 1.0 Turbo CVT, gives off a “floating roof” effect and makes the Raize stand out even more. The top variants boast 17-inch wheels for a sporty stance.

Raise your comfort: The Raize is built on a new platform that aims for a higher level of driving performance, refinement, and safety. It has a lightweight and rigid body, and suspension that’s optimized for handling stability and comfort. You can also enjoy the fabric and synthetic leather seats on the 1.0 Turbo CVT, while the 1.2-liter variants are clad in fabric to make rides more comfortable for both driver and passengers.

Raise your power: Small is definitely powerful when you consider the Raize’s new 1.0-liter turbo engine. It has the torque of a conventional 1.5-liter and is paired with a CVT. The turbo engine and CVT combination is a first for Toyota. The CVT adds split gears to the existing CVT belt drives and can use both belt and gear drives for better efficiency. Other variants are powered by a 1.2-liter 12-valve DOHC inline-3 engine, with dual VVT-i. The 1.2-liter engine can be mated to a CVT or 5-speed manual transmission.

Raise your flexibility: With its compact size, the Raize is ideal for parking in tight spaces and zipping throughout the city. Even with its compact footprint, the Raize has a sizable 369-liter luggage capacity. The rear seats can be folded if you need to transport long or large gear. For gadgets and smaller items, there’s plenty of storage with multiple cubbies throughout the cabin.

Raise your technology: No need to fish out your key to get moving—keyless entry with push start system is available for the 1.0 Turbo CVT and 1.2 G CVT variants. The Raize is also smartphone-ready with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. You can easily link to the 8” or 9” display and play on up to 6 speakers. Dual USB charging ports and a 12-volt accessory outlet are also provided.

Raise your sense of safety: The Raize received a five-star rating in collision safety, the top ranking, in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) safety performance assessment, thanks to its collision safety body and occupant restraint system. Active safety features are standard: vehicle stability control, hill start assist and reverse sonar. The 1.0 Turbo CVT variant adds Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, additional front side and curtain airbags, and front clearance sonar. A reverse camera is likewise available on the 1.0 Turbo CVT and 1.2 G CVT variants.

Raise your value-for-money: The Raize is definitely a Toyota, with the no-compromise quality, parts availability, and service support expected from the leading mobility brand. This gives you confidence in deciding on a vehicle for your hard-earned money. The Raize is affordable, too, starting at prices you might expect for a subcompact sedan:
