Stringent safety measures to protect Wilcon employees, customers
Having been cooped up inside your home for the past two and a half months, you discovered some areas of the house that need repairing. You also probably found yourself with more than enough time to finally dive into that home improvement project you’ve been planning for months. But as fate would have it, you couldn’t push through with your DIY projects at home as you lacked the necessary materials and shops are closed due to the enhanced community quarantine.
With the country transitioning into general community quarantine, stores are now allowed to open its doors to the public. You’re raring to go out and shop, of course, but you’re now filled with dread and apprehension. What if you catch the new coronavirus while shopping for your construction supplies?
Wilcon Depot, the Philippines’ leading home improvement and construction supply retailer, assures its customers of a safe shopping experience through its implementation of precautionary measures that prioritize the health and safety of both its employees and patrons. The one-stop shop for home building needs has introduced a “standard of care” to make sure that its stores and corporate offices are safe and for its valued customers and employees.
Physical distancing is strictly enforced inside and outside Wilcon Depot premises as the company sees the practice to be one of the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Shoppers and employees are reminded to keep a one-meter distance between each other. Physical distancing queue marks and indicators have been placed throughout Wilcon stores. Seats have designated vacant spaces in between. The number of customers entering a store is also regulated and queuing will be organized outside the store entrance.
Temperature checks before entering office and store premises are mandatory. Those that register a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius and above will not be allowed entry and will be assisted to a designated area for evaluation and medical advice.
Shoppers are required to wear personal protective equipment such as face masks throughout their stay at the store. Employees are mandated to wear face masks, face shields and hand gloves as well. Transparent plastic barriers and partitions are installed at certain areas of the store as a supplementary safety measure to reduce exposure during customer-and-employee interactions.
Article continues after this advertisementAs COVID-19 is known to spread by touch, Wilcon assures that all its stores go through heightened cleaning and disinfection procedures before and after daily operations. Frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, elevator buttons, escalator handrails and washrooms are also routinely cleaned and disinfected. Foot baths are also available at the entrance to disinfect shoes. Alcohol and hand sanitizers are also available at various designated areas for everyone’s use.
Article continues after this advertisementWilcon employees promote and practice best hygiene practices like frequent and thorough washing of hands for at least 20 seconds and using hand sanitizers throughout the day. To help lessen exposure and infection risks, Wilcon safety officers remind employees and customers to avoid touching their mouth, nose and eyes and refrain from any physical contact while shopping.
Through these measures, Wilcon shows its commitment to ensure the health, safety and well-being of its valued customers, employees and the community where it operates.
