MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has donated P3.9-million worth of fuel to the government’s efforts to transport health workers and other frontliners who are braving the COVID-19 crisis in the Philippines.

The company’s Petron Corporation and SMC infrastructure made the donation to the Metro Manila Development Authority and Department of Transportation, which rolled out numerous shuttle services that ferry frontliners within Metro Manila as the enhanced community quarantine remains in effect across Luzon.

“We are amazed at how everybody is pulling together to fight this battle,” said SMC President Ramon Ang. “For our part, we will not stop looking for opportunities to help.”

DOTr commissioned 60 shuttle services that will transport medical workers daily in 19 routes around Metro Manila.

SMC infrastructure has allotted 54,000 liters of fuel or 50 liters for each of the 60 buses per day.

This fuel may be availed through the use of Petron e-fuel cards that SMC also donated.

Apart from fuel, SMC also provided P1.8 million worth of free toll to over 2,000 medical workers who use the South Luzon Expressway, Skyway, STAR Tollway, NAIAx, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
