Torre Lorenzo remains bullish, expands footprint

Continued expansion is on the horizon for premium real estate developer Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. (TLDC). The trusted name in premium university residences remains on track with its five-year growth plan as it expands its footprint and further diversifies its portfolio to include mixed-use developments located in next wave cities outside Metro Manila.

As a testament to the company’s resilience, TLDC continues to find possible growth opportunities amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. As the Department of Tourism encourages domestic travel, TLDC sees this as “something positive” for the company as it intends to strengthen its presence in emerging areas such as Davao, Batangas, Baguio and Pampanga with both its planned and newly completed projects.

TLDC offeringsTLDC currently has the dusitD2 Davao, regarded as Davao City’s first internationally-branded hotel development, and Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation Resort in Davao de Oro, Mindanao’s first five-star exclusive island development. These two offerings alone brought TLDC’s total investment in Mindanao to more than P6 billion. And just behind the existing dusitD2 Hotel will soon rise the Dusit Princess, a 4-star hotel projected to have a capacity of 300 rooms.

“(Our) growth will come from a deeper penetration of the premium university residence (PUR) market. We are also focusing of building more PURs in the provinces,” said Emmanuel Rapadas, chief finance officer of TLDC.

COVID-19 impactAs for the possible impact of COVID-19 to its suppliers, TLDC said that even before, all their construction supplies are being sourced locally. The “Filipino-first” attitude of this premium developer prevented it from having to scramble for imported supplies, and consequently, avoid possible delays in its construction activities. “We have adopted necessary tactics and mapped out responses on the short-term impact [of the virus]. For the long-term impact, there are supply chain strategies also in place. TLDC has a very strong risk management system,” Rapadas said.
