Vivienne Tan names new PAL commercial, HR heads

MANILA Philippines– Philippine Airlines (PAL) Officer-in-Charge Vivienne K. Tan today has announced the appointment of two key executives who will lead the airline’s commercial and human resources groups, signalling the start of the flag carrier’s transition to a new leadership.

In a speech following PAL’s weekly flag raising ceremony on Monday, Ms. Tan introduced Rosemarie S. Katalbas as  Senior Vice President of Human Capital Department and Mr. Eugene Go as Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer.

Ms. Katalbas brings with her a vast experience in leadership roles in human resource management across multiple industries, both in the region and globally. These industries include electronics manufacturing, solar energy, pharmaceutical, audit and management firm, and financial services. She was awarded the People Manager of the year by the People Management Association of the Philippines and was recently the recipient of the Philippines’ Most Talented Leaders (2018) World HRD Congress.

Mr. Go is a product of De La Salle University with post graduate studies in Singapore Institute of Technology where he finished with academic distinction. He has over 27 years of Marketing and Commercial experience in companies like Unilever and Johnson & Johnson, to name a few, and was instrumental in the rise to market leadership of household brand names. He is an Agoda awardee for Marketing Excellence.

“We’re working to make PAL more efficient and productive by improving business procedures — how we do things. Most importantly, I call on all of you to stand united as you carry out your duties and responsibilities in PAL,” Ms. Tan said.

She rallied PAL executives and staff to value the wisdom of unity, stressing that “with unity, there is strength and with strength in numbers, we will make PAL succeed together.”

In the same message, Ms. Tan  shared an earlier conversation she had with her father, taipan Lucio Tan, where she asked him about his passion and dedication to make PAL succeed. “My father said: PAL is more than just an airline, it represents the country — the Philippines. So I wish to remind all of you: as you carry out your work, your duties, you’re not merely representing the company, but also the country because the Philippines is PAL and PAL is the Philippines,” she stressed.
