Meanwhile, if you are looking for antique furniture or unique paintings to add drama to your home, visit the Salcedo Auctions Showroom this coming week to check out the auction items for bid.

Salcedo Auctions celebrates a highly eventful 2018 with its year-end sale, Under the Tree: The Wish List, which will also be held on Nov. 24 (Saturday), 11 a.m. at Three Salcedo Place. True to the spirit of the season, the sale is a veritable wish list for experienced and budding collectors alike with an impressive line up of fine art, jewelry and time pieces, vintage memorabilia and antique furniture.

For art lovers, the sale features a number of impressive works such as National Artist BenCab’s 2008 acrylic on canvas, Sabel, Ang Kiukok’s 1970 oil on canvas Blue Table, and Lao Lianben’s 2009 acrylic on canvas Zen on My Head.

Among the highly collectible furniture pieces is a massive narra tambol aparador crafted in Bulacan in the first quarter of the 20th century.

Complementing the apara-dor’s size is an intricate 19th century chest of drawers with a pull-out writing desk, which was found in an ancestral house in Carcar, Cebu, kamagong is used as flush top and cabinet frame, including the drawer casings, while the rest is in narra. Many of the parts are marked with Chinese characters to indicate their placement—showing that this piece was made by early Chinese furniture makers working in the Philippines.

Rounding up the range of furniture are two exemplary tables: a massive “magic” dining or conference table from Bulacan from the first quarter of the 20th century decorated with alternating kamagong and lanite; and a very rare Sheraton altar table from Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur, from the last quarter of the 19th century, whose middle drawer has secret compartments at the back.
