Agriculture Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano dies at age 65
Agriculture Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) announced on a Facebook post. He was 65 years old.
Savellano, born in Cabugao town in Ilocos Sur, is the husband of actress Dina Bonnevie. When appointed in 2023, he managed the livestock portfolio under the Department of Agriculture (DA) until his passing.

He was also designated as the oversight official of the NTA and presiding official of the NTA Governing Board.
Prior to his stint as an agriculture official, Savellano served as the deputy speaker and Ilocos Sur 1st district representative. He was likewise part of formulating the Sustainable Tobacco Enhancement Program (STEP) with NTA officials and other stakeholders in 2020.
Article continues after this advertisement“During his two terms as governor of Ilocos Sur, he initiated the KABSAT Caravan, a prosperity program giving free–farm machineries and inputs to all farmers in the province including the tobacco farmers,” the NTA said.
“His dedication, leadership, and invaluable contributions to the agency and to the upliftment of the life of the tobacco farmers will forever be remembered. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and colleagues during this difficult time. His legacy continues to inspire us,” it added.
