China Telecom-Dennis Uy group passes for 3rd telco
Only one telecommunications group has qualified in the initial review for the third telco player in the country, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced Wednesday.
The consortium of China Telecom and Dennis Uy’s Udenna Corp. and Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. was the only participating group that passed NTC’s preliminary selection process.
Uy is a businessman based in Davao, hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Two telco companies were disqualified from the selection process for the third telco player in the country after their selection documents were rendered incomplete by the NTC.
According to the selection committee of the NTC, the LCS-TierOne Consortium and the Philippine Telegraph & Telephone (PT&T) Corporation failed to submit their participation security and certification of technical capability, respectively.
In the absence of the said documents, the committee said both telco groups have been disqualified from the bidding.
