Malaysian firms to manage Cagayan airport
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Two Malaysian companies are providing airport management services to operate Cagayan North International Airport in Lal-lo town, prior to the maiden flight to Macau scheduled on March 23.
Iris Corporation Berhad and Positive Paragon Sendirian Berhad signed a joint memorandum of understanding with the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (Ceza) to install front-end hardware and equipment, software work stations, and passport and travel card readers, according to Raul Lambino, Ceza administrator and chief executive officer.
Cagayan Business Aviation Center, a consortium of local and foreign firms, also submitted a proposal to upgrade the Lal-lo airport into a “state of the art logistics aviation hub and a one-stop aviation center,” Lambino said.
The airport has been cleared to begin operating commercial flights for A320 and B737 planes. —Villamor Visaya Jr.
