Some, however, may find planning for that perfect vacation difficult, especially if you and your family and friends have highly diverse interests.

Luckily enough for those heading to the south for their next getaway, Davao offers an array of activities fit for all ages.

“Davao has a complete package of tourist destinations, which can offer natural, traditional, historical and modern sites that [have] something to offer for every member of the family,” said Tourism Regional Director Antonio Fernando Blanco.

Blanco revealed that they recently launched tour packages for their Farm Tourism program, a move that would hopefully continue Davao’s hike up the tourism ladder.

The said program features Chocolate Tour Overload, and it is exactly what it sounds like: children and children at heart are given the delightful experience of tasting chocolate products from different cacao farms and manufacturers while being taught the process of transforming the cacao fruit into the glorious dessert we all enjoy.

Perhaps the most exciting part of this program for the foodies and brave souls out there is the Davao Durian Challenge Tour, where they get to taste what is dubbed as the “stinkiest fruit in the world.”

Adventurous spirits, meanwhile, may go to the Island Garden City of Samal for island hopping through the Davao Countryside Tour. Those seeking some peace and quiet with nature will enjoy the Davao Bamboo Sanctuary and Ecological Park.

Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. and Thai hospitality group Dusit International are collaborating to put up the P1.9-billion Dusit Thani Hotel in Lubi Plantation, Davao Gulf.

Growing tourism

With all these programs in place, Blanco is optimistic of Davao’s prospects, adding that the government is projecting a robust growth for the tourism industry this 2018.

“With [the city’s] abundance of tourist attractions and the aggressive promotions that the Department of Tourism has mounted, the only way is up for [Davao],” he said. “[T]he city’s sustainable growth was because of its innate beauty and its determined administration.”

Data from the DOT showed that Davao City posted an 8 percent year-on-year growth in tourism arrivals to 3.24 million in 2017. And because of the unprecedented tourism growth in the region, Filipinos and foreigners alike are in search of residential offerings that would bring them much closer to the adventures that await in Davao.

Among the real estate developers that have long placed their confidence in the Davao region would be Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. (TLDC), which partnered with Thai hospitality group Dusit Thani for residential, hotel and resort projects.

These projects include the Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel, the first five-star luxury complex in Davao and Dusit International’s first residence in the Asia Pacific region. These projects alone are considered contributors to the region’s tourism industry as they provide prospective residents and tourists alike with topnotch luxury accommodation.

The partners are also putting up the Dusit Thani Hotel in Lubi Plantation—a five star luxury resort located on a 36-ha leisure development in the Davao Gulf.

Araw ng Dabaw 2018

Investing in a home in Davao will prove to be a good decision especially this season, as the annual and month-long celebration of Araw ng Dabaw officially kicked off on Thursday.

Because of the postponed activities for Pasko Fiesta in December, more events will be featured in this year’s celebration, such as Lamdag sa Parada, Koro sa Araw ng Dabaw and Davao Unplugged Battle of the Bands.

The exciting festivities to be expected in celebrating Davao City’s 81st anniversary would be Datu Pasidungog, Mutya ng Davao pageant, Parada Davaoeño and the Araw ng Davao Street Party.

For the children of Davao, Dabawenyo Ako! will teach them about the culture of the city and what it truly means to be a Davaoeño at a very young age, through a series of lectures.
