Timeless elegance from the ‘masters’
There is a certain prominence, awe, and respect attached to a structure designed by a “Coscolluela”.
A number of landmark structures and high profile projects have, after all, marked the highly illustrious career of W.V. Coscolluela & Associates (WVCA) as a full service architectural, interior design and planning firm over the last six decades.
Today, WVCA remains a force to reckon with. Headed by its Principal Architect William V. Coscolluela, the company remains committed and continues to take the lead in the industry, specifically in promoting green architecture in the Philippines.
Coscolluela explained that in every project they undertake, they seek “to create clean lines that exude a timeless elegance while utilizing green architecture principles, and to make use of the latest technologies in construction and building materials.”
Most importantly, the goal is to “design efficient, safe and secure structures.”
“Before the start of a project, it is important to consider site location, orientation, soil condition, climate and weather (for typhoons and flooding), proximity to fault lines and earthquake susceptibility, safety, stability and security,” he added.
Coscolluela further pointed out that apart from these considerations, it was also crucial that they are able to achieve their clients’ goals and support their needs and priorities.
For instance, if a client requested for a commercial development, the end goal would be to make it economically viable and feasible, he said.
In the case of trusted property developer Sta. Lucia Land Inc. (SLLI) for instance, every project that WVCA undertakes for the company had been designed in such a way that the features and amenities are suitable and unique to the host community or province.
“Each development has its own character, hence, its design features are unique in its own way. For example, in Splendido Taal, the vista of the Taal volcano is the focal selling point, and it is highlighted through the multiple views and balconies seen from the different parts of the development. In Mactan, Cebu, the development brings focus to the sea and the beach,” Coscolluela explained.
“In Ternate, Cavite, the highlight is the hippodrome. In Orchard and Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club, the highlight is the vast golf courses. For Alta Vista, Cebu, it is the golf course nestled in the mountain of Pardo. In the upcoming project in Baguio, the culture is the focal point. Local materials like the Baguio Stone is specified, while the landscaping will make use of the city’s myriad of colorful flowers and plants,” Coscolluela further disclosed.
Constant features in thes developments, of course, include swimming pools, basketball courts, tennis courts, spa, gym, children’s playground, and large multi-purpose halls.
Tips in buying
To make sure that you get your money’s worth, Coscolluela offers three tips when choosing the right Sta. Lucia Land project for you.
Consider existing conditions, i.e. location, orientation, roadways going to and within the development, water, electricity, utility provisions, flooding and earthquake hazards.
Consider the background and reliability of the developer. Sta. Lucia has been in the real estate business since the ’70s and it has been able to deliver what it advertises. It also provides good service through ease of transference of ownership (wherein it always provides clean titles) and after sales management and service.
Consider the theme of the development. Sta. Lucia Land usually has a theme for each of its developments. It is not only seen in its projects’ architecture, but also in the landscaping, making sure that the buyer gets a good place to live in.
