Apo View Hotel relaunch to boost tourism
Davao City is gearing for an expected boost in tourism, following the grand relaunch of the iconic Apo View Hotel.
Steeped in more than six decades of history, this well-loved landmark in Davao City will soon be opening its doors to local and foreign guests.
The grand relaunch line-up of activities included a street parade and motorcade, a press conference with the national and local media, a grand tour of the revitalized Apo View Hotel, a fashion show, capped off by a rave party music festival that extended well into the night.
The grand celebration kicked off with a motorcade and parade highlighted by street dancing and cultural presentations, followed by a Holy Mass and the ribbon cutting ceremonies led by Apo View managing director Edmundo Las and Tourism Regional Director Roberto Alabado III.
Art contest
The winners of the Apo Art Attack contest were also announced at the relaunch.
Article continues after this advertisementThe contest, which carried the theme “Kulturang Pamana ng Davao” or Cultural Heritage of Davao City, was participated by students from various colleges and universities. The winning artworks are currently displayed at the Apo View Lobby.
Article continues after this advertisementThe festivities continued with a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring native fabric and Mindanao weave. The event also highlighted a cultural presentation that depicts the evolution of Davao’s cultural heritage. To show solidarity, the Deputy Mayors from 11 tribes in Davao City and the Mutya ng Kidapawan graced the catwalk.
