VXI PH receives prestigious Philippine Red Cross Award

05:58 PM September 15, 2017

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) awarded VXI Philippines (VXI PH) the Blood Services Platinum Award “for its continuing support in the promotion of voluntary blood donation and in the organization of mobile blood donations.”

Dr. Arnette De Guzman, VXI PH Senior Company Physician, was present to accept the award on July 20, 2017 – one week before the inauguration of VXI Panorama – the company’s newest and biggest site nationwide.

Present during the awarding ceremony held at the PRC Multipurpose Hall and Training Center in Mandaluyong City was PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon. “We do not achieve anything in the Red Cross or the Department of Health without the people and without the volunteers willing to lead. Being a volunteer means you are a leader, you draw the best out of people. And you are all leaders when you bring your friends to donate blood,” Gordon said in a statement.

Also present during the awarding ceremony was Department of Health Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial. “Everyone should be a part of the movement and the change that we want to happen. I congratulate all the honorees and the awardees for this event. Let me congratulate our long term partner, the Philippine Red Cross, and all of the blood donors and blood program advocates for all your efforts so that we will attain blood adequacy in this country,” Ubial said.

VXI PH employees have been donating blood since 2006, with a total of 727 units of blood already donated following the most recent blood drive conducted across Metro Manila and Davao sites.

“VXI PH is humbled by this recognition. Helping save people’s lives by donating blood is a selfless act, and we promise to stay committed to this very important life-saving mission. Everyone here at VXI PH has embraced our employee value proposition Passion for People, and that means extending whatever help we can offer to anybody and everybody, not just our employees,” VXI PH Executive Vice President and Country Manager Jared Morrison said.

“The Blood Services Platinum Award is for each and every employee who came forward, volunteered, and donated blood. May this also inspire others to become donors in our future blood drives,” Morrison added.

VXI Centrale Supply Chain Specialist Sharmaine Pelicano knows the importance of donating blood. “My blood can save a life.”

“You could help anybody,” VXI Makati Asset Specialist Anthony Bondoy said. Bondoy has been a donor for five straight years. “I love sharing my precious blood,” he added.

Jarwin Navales, who has been donating blood annually since he started working at VXI PH more than three years ago, said that “donating your blood will give someone another chance at life. One day that someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one or even you.” The Security Specialist stationed in a Quezon City site also said that donating blood reduces the risk of heart disease.

VXI Lanang Admin Officer Ruffa Jimenez has become a willing donor after what she has experienced. “I’ve witnessed patients and their families, and even some of my friends in hospitals and Red Cross chapters, who are in dire need of blood. This motivated me to donate blood whenever I can.”

This year, the VXI North EDSA blood donation took place on March 31, followed by VXI MOA on April 1. VXI Waltermart employees donated blood on April 6, followed by VXI Makati the next day, April 7. In Davao, blood donation took place on April 26 and 27 and on May 5.

The annual blood drive is just one of the several corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs VXI PH is actively engaged in. VXI PH, awarded Best Contact Center & BPO Company of the Year and named finalist in the Best Company of the Year and Best Employer of the Year categories at the 11th International ICT Awards, also supports My Dream in a Shoebox, a campaign spearheaded by Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) which aims to help underprivileged kids reach for a brighter future by distributing shoeboxes filled with school supplies. VXI PH is also in partnership with Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, a surgical charity organization providing medical treatment to the poor, and with Gawad Kalinga in building the P2.1 million peso-VXI GK Village housing project in Brgy. Poblacion 8, Lawaan, Eastern Samar to provide the victims of Typhoon Yolanda new homes. ADVT
