The Philippine Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry is one of the best revenue earning and employment generating sector in the past years. Its strength in voice-based services as well as the continuous maturation in non-voice and knowledge process outsourcing shows the promising growth trajectory of the IT-BPM sector.

As of 2014, the industry has grown 5.5 times its size. In 2006, the industry generated USD 18.9B representing 6.5% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product. The industry has since become the country’s largest source of export revenue, second to the Overseas Filipino Worker remittances based on statistics by the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).

To be able to secure the Philippine’s position in the global IT-BPM sector, IBPAP and Globe Business, the enterprise information and communications technology arm of Globe Telecom, advocates for deeper reforms in the industry that will support and maintain a competitive business environment through the IBPAP Roadmap 2022.

The IBPAP Roadmap 2022 shows the state of the IT-BPM industry, globally and in the Philippines, and looks closely at the factors that contribute to growth and those that may inhibit it. It also details the different initiatives and strategies that the industry may need to undertake in order to achieve consistent growth.

As one of the roadmap’s major contributors, Globe Business believes that sharing the industry’s passion in caring for its clients and customers will help IT-BPM companies realize an optimum level of operations by equipping them with knowledge, scalable infrastructure, and cost-efficient tools.

“It is through the close collaboration of IBPAP and Globe Business that we have been able to come up with the Roadmap 2010 and 2016, and we foresee that the success of the roadmaps can be repeated, even exceeded. Through right technology, scalable infrastructure and our knowledge in business, we will be able to contribute in the development of Roadmap 2022 which will reflect our passion to enable companies to achieve operational efficiency and business growth,” said Globe Senior Advisor for Enterprise and IT-Enabled Services Group Mike Frausing

Globe is also addressing the IT-BPM industry’s growing demand for connectivity by investing close to US$500 million over a five-year period beginning this year for the expansion of its corporate data network. The expansion is intended to support the increasing bandwidth requirements of Globe Business’ corporate and enterprise clients who are adopting new network technologies and solutions.

IT-BPM companies that are looking to maintain their competitive advantage are also relying on Globe Business’ set of advanced IT infrastructure and solutions such as Canvas, which converts paper-based processes to dynamic, feature-rich mobile apps, Globe Work Ready Seats, as well as Media Storage facilities that help BPOs secure large files for their customers to name a few.
