Delta P expands Palawan power plant

/ 07:22 PM March 31, 2016

Delta P, Inc. (Delta P), Palawan’s first private power provider, continues its expansion in Palawan as it inked a 15-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) to provide 26.65 megawatts (MW) to the main Palawan Grid.

Delta P currently operates a 16-MW bunker-fired power plant and is serving a 10-year power supply contract with PALECO. It supplies one-third of the cooperative’s energy requirements.

The PSA was concluded after PALECO successfully conducted a competitive selection process and issued a notice of award to Delta P in December
2015. The additional capacity will augment the much needed power requirements in the Palawan Grid. It will provide an immediate response to the expected increase in demand in the franchise area of PALECO.

Established in 2002, Delta P owns and operates the energy output of an existing 16 MW diesel-fired power plant in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Delta P is jointly owned by Gigawatt Power, Inc. and Vivant Energy Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vivant Corporation.
