Acer heats up notebook wars

Taipei, Taiwan—Acer has brought to the market two new devices optimized for the recently launched Windows 10—the Aspire Z3, a portable all-in-one PC, and the Aspire R 14 flexible notebook.

The two new Aspire devices join Acer’s over a hundred Windows 10-ready machines globally.

“Acer is the number 1 in Windows 10 PC sales in Asia and Europe,” says Jason Chen, Acer corporate president and CEO. “With Windows 10, we can now deliver a unique and consistent experience across our comprehensive product portfolio … and empower users to do great things with more personal and human technology.”

This latest project between the two longtime partners fortifies their goal of making “a major jump to harmonize and humanize the technology,” according to Chen.

Aspire Z3 is an all-in-one portable computer, easy to carry around at just 2 kg and is slim at 1.5 cm.

It boasts of a 5-hour battery life, giving users maximum time for productivity or entertainment.

It comes with a dedicated stylus for the Full HD 10-point touch display, making it an ideal device for graphic artists.

The portable computer is powered by Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, and has up to 8 GB system with SSD or HDD storage options.

The Aspire R 14, meanwhile, is a convertible notebook with a diamond-cut edge design, and a metal cover, which was made using an eco-friendly technology called nano imprint lithography.

Lightweight at just 1.9 kg and 1.85 cm thin, it incorporates 6th generation Intel Core processors, and has up to 8 GB system memory and SSD storage.

Aspire R 14 also includes MU-MIMO wireless technology for faster connection speeds and downloads.

It features a 360-degree dual torque hinge and wobble-free design for flexibility between four usage modes, namely laptop, display, tent and tablet.

The foldable device can be used in classic Laptop mode, or switched to Display mode by hiding the keyboard or laid flat at 180 degrees, making it ideal for sharing and entertainment purposes.

It can also be converted to Tent mode for confined spaces, and folded for the Tablet mode.

Both Windows 10-ready devices feature Acer TrueHarmony Plus technology with Dolby Audio, offering an enviable audio experience.

They are also shipped with Acer BluelightShield, which can reduce eye strain by reducing blue light emission from the screen.
