Manila Water forays into purified water business

Manila Water Co., Inc., one of the two water services providers in Metro Manila and surrounding areas, is going into the purified water retail business.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Ayala-led company said its subsidiary Manila Water Total Solutions Corp. has received the certificate of product registration for its Healthy Family Purified Drinking Water product from the Bureau of Food and Drugs.

The product comes in a five-gallon container and is produced in a fully automated system with no human contact, the company said. The water product delivered directly to customers’ homes for P40 per container and can be stored for up to six months.

Manila Water said the product is currently available for distribution and consumption in Taguig, Pateros, and “select areas” of Makati, Manila, and Mandaluyong. More sites may be covered in Metro Manila by the third quarter of this year, the company said.
