PHILIPPINE Airlines, the nation’s flag carrier, was listed among the world’s most reliable airlines.
In a study made by travel website WanderBat, PAL ranked 21st out of 22 most reliable airlines.
The study considered three factors on determining the ranking of the airlines: on-time performance which determines “how frequently flights are on time, delayed and cancelled”; checked baggage cost which tells “the number of bags you get to check for free, as well as the cost of checking additional bags after your free allotment,” and fleet which describes “the average age of a fleet.”
WanderBat said that PAL’s international flights tend to be delayed 47 percent of the time. The study also showed that the age of its 51-plane fleet is about 4.2 years.
PAL flies to more than 40 international and domestic destinations.
The travel website hailed Qatar Airways, which flies to more than 144 destinations worldwide, as the most reliable airline in the world.
Other airlines, which rounded up the most dependable airlines, include: Emirates, China Eastern Airlines, Singapore Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Air China, British Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Chilean Airline, Tam Airlines, Japan Airlines, Egypt Air, Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Qantas, Aeroflot, China Airlines and Air Berlin.
