Dow Philippines expands product lineup to cater to energy, construction sectors

MANILA, Philippines–Dow Philippines, the local unit of US-based Dow Chemical Co., is expanding its product offering in the Philippines to cater to the growing needs of the local renewable energy and construction industries, where further investments are expected.

Roberto Batungbacal, country manager of Dow Philippines, said the company was working toward “a new horizon of innovation” in multiple sectors including solar and wind energy, electric vehicles and food.

This showed that Dow Philippines was committed to becoming an integral contributor to economic growth, highlighting the employees’ expertise and skills in the fields of science and technology.

At present, Dow Philippines offers some 450 products that serve the chemical, advanced materials, agrosciences, semiconductor, electronics, packaging, water and plastics businesses.

It has a latex manufacturing facility in Las Piñas, which largely caters to domestic requirements.

“The Philippines is a significant market for us (Dow Chemical) in Southeast Asia and in Asia in terms of revenues and opportunities… The Las Piñas plant, which was primarily designed to address needs of the domestic market, is also a significant part of the operations in the Philippines,” Batungbacal added.

Dow Philippines, which is Dow Chemical’s first office in Southeast Asia, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the country.

From a small office in Manila in 1964, Dow Philippines has since expanded nationwide with over 100 employees, operating a business center in Makati and a manufacturing facility.
