It is alarming that the number of health care workers who were pierced by needles at work has doubled in the past decade. Studies show that 40 percent of needle-stick injuries occur after use and before disposal of sharp devices; 41 percent occur during use on patients; and 15 percent occur during or after disposal.
To avoid needle-stick injuries, Germany-based pharmaceutical company Troge Medical through HealthSolutions Enterprises Inc. introduces Tro-Vensite Safety—an intravenous (IV) cannula providing its user absolute safety with its self-activating safety clip which covers the needle tip immediately after being withdrawn.
This innovative feature does not only provide its user protection from needle-stick injuries and infection but also prevents the needle from being reused.
Aside from the safety clip, the safety needles feature the Troge-specific triple-facet bevel, giving an angle of insertion range between 4 degrees and 32 degrees. Users do not have to adjust their insertion techniques to the angle of the needle; it is the needle that adapts to the users’ specific puncture method.
Troge’s IV cannulas are more affordable compared to other safety needles in the market. The needles are made from laser-controlled production machines that guarantee their extreme sharpness. This sharpness makes needle insertion atraumatic or does not damage any tissue, thus allowing faster healing of the puncture site. It also avoids blood to drip when the needle is removed.
Tro-Vensite Safety IV cannulas come in two types: the vensite safety plus which are ported and winged, and the vensite safety sine which are non-ported and without wings. Both types come in 18 to 26 needle gauges which follow international standards.
