Hawaii community council to host entrepreneurship seminars
HONOLULU—The Filipino Community Council of Hawaii, in collaboration with SCORE, is hosting “Magnegosyo Entrepreneurship Workshops” from October 2013 to March 2014.
There will be five sessions, every third Tuesday of the month starting Oct. 15 (except December). The sessions are at 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the FilCom Tech Center, 94-428 Mokuola Street, Waipahu, Hawaii. Registration is free.

Keith Ogata is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Hawaii. He is the president of 3-K Financial Corporation in Nevada, a private Equity investment company. Ogata has served as the chief financial officer and treasurer at the National Education Corporation, Irvine, California, from 1981 to 1997. He is currently a member of the board of trustees for Mid-Pacific Institute and Island Pacific Academy and member of board of directors for Triumph Higher Education (Escoffier Schools of Culinary Arts), Hoffman Estates, IL. Ogata is also a member of board of directors and secretary of SCORE Association, Washington D.C., since 2008 and former District Director of SCORE Hawaii from 2001 to 2008.

SCORE is a resource partner with the US Small Business Administration (SBA). He has been a volunteer counselor for SCORE Hawaii Chapter since 2005 and currently advises and assists nonprofit organizations in planning, management and finances.

Claus Prufer is the owner of Prufer Consulting Services Inc. PCSI advises clients in federal government procurement with focus on small business applications in women-owned, veterans and service disabled veterans, HUB zone, 8(a) and NHO. He is a certified counselor for SCORE. He conducts one-on-one sessions with clients in all the specters of government contracting followed with power point presentations and symposia at no cost for many years. Prufer has served as the program manager for HI-PTAC, chairman of the board for Island Community Lending and director of contractual relations for GTE International and GTE Hawaiian Tel as chief negotiator of International and Federal contracts.

Since receiving his BA degree in economics from Whitman College in 1973, Schuyler has been involved in a wide range of business, tax and financial consulting in Washington State and Hawaii. His work experience is with a wide range of small and medium sized businesses as well as individuals from all types of occupation and backgrounds. As a representative of the tax/accounting firm Global Business Services, Schuyler has assisted clients in all aspects of start-up, strategic planning, operations, accounting, tax planning/preparation and finance.
As a practicing tax accountant, over the past several years, he has been involved in the preparation and filing of thousands of individual and business tax returns here in Hawaii and throughout the mainland. Currently he is a member of The National Society of Accounts & the Hawaii Chapter of SCORE where he is an executive committee member in charge of the education workshop outreach program.
