Teradata opens PH office, first in SE Asia

NEW YORK Stock Exchange-listed corporate data manager Teradata Corp. has put up a consulting facility in Taguig—the company’s first in Southeast Asia.

In a briefing on Thursday, Teradata said the new facility in the Bonifacio Global City would be part of its global consultancy, which helps customers “build more agile, profitable companies supported by Teradata’s data warehousing and analytic business intelligence solutions.”

The company said its facility in Taguig would have an initial 200 seats, but would be expanded in the next few years.

“The Philippines is an excellent choice for our first global consulting center in Southeast Asia,” said Robert Cromer, the company’s professional services vice president for the Americas.

Teradata’s main software service helps companies store their data more efficiently. Teradata’s business intelligence software also allows clients to be able to spot trends more easily, which can be vital to their business plans.

“The availability of a highly-talented workforce with excellent English language skills will further enable Teradata customers to deploy business intelligence solutions on-time and on-budget,” Cromer said.

The company noted that the country produces around 100,000 information technology-trained college graduates every year, ensuring that there is never a shortage of workers that Teradata can hire.

“The opening of the Manila center is a critical component of the planned growth of Teradata’s global professional services,” the company’s Global Professional Services vice president David Klumb said in a statement.

“The Teradata facility will specialize in data warehousing and business intelligence software, with the capability to provide a comprehensive, unmatched range services for customers throughout North America,” Klumb added.

Among the tasks to be done at the Manila facility include system design, architecture, implementation and optimization of Teradata’s software for its clients.

“In addition, the consulting teams support enterprise analytics, data management and managed services,” Teradata said. The company said it expects its future employees to stay loyal to the company, given the challenging work and the room for growth in the multinational technology company, which also has operations in India and Europe.
