MANILA, Philippines—For the eighth straight year, Security Bank bagged this year’s “Best Securities House,” also known as the Cesar EA Virata Award, given annually by Philippine Dealing System Holdings Corp. (PDS) for the banking category.

Metrobank’s investment banking arm First Metro Investment Corp. won the Cesar EA Virata Award for the recently created investment house category. This was the second straight year that FMIC has received the award for this category, which was only created last year.

The PDS awards are named in honor of former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, a veteran banker who was a key proponent of the establishment of the fixed-income trading platform in the country. The annual awards recognize “top financial institutions that exhibit outstanding performance, leadership, innovation and continued pursuit in contributing to a robust domestic capital market.”—Doris C.
