MANILA, Philippines–Globe Telecom has teamed up with Bank of the Philippine Islands to provide early Christmas freebies to prepaid cell phone users who will reload credits using the latter’s electronic banking channels.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, officials from Globe and BPI – both under the Ayala conglomerate – said for a limited period of time until Dec. 31 this year, Globe and TM cell phone users reloading via BPI’s e-banking channels would be rewarded with a 24-hour unlimited SMS/texting to all networks, 50 minutes of free calls to Globe and TM numbers and 5MB worth of free mobile Internet surfing.

TM subscribers, on the other hand, can get unlimited SMS to Globe and TM, 50 minutes free call time to Globe and TM numbers and 5 MB free mobile Internet surfing valid for one day.

“Reloading through BPI is now very rewarding, giving you exclusive perks to always keep in touch with your families and friends. Now even if you’re on the go, anytime and anywhere, you won’t be afraid of zero load balance,” said Noel Tagaza, BPI senior vice president and head of the electronic channels group.

“As we have seen continuous growth momentum in our prepaid mobile subscriber base as well as in terms of revenues, we would like to give our prepaid subscribers more incentives while continuously expanding the availability and accessibilty of Globe reloads,” said Pilut Montes, head of Globe Telecom’s online/bank channel.
