PLDT addresses cyber threats with Akamai tie-up
An enterprise unit of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has rolled out an expanded portfolio of services aimed at providing businesses with more secure Internet solutions.
PLDT Alpha Enterprise is the local channel partner of United States-based Akamai Technologies. The company said it would offer Akamai’s solutions for “delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications.”
“As the market battleground shifts toward the web, enterprises are fast recognizing how the end-user experience can make or break online transactions,” PLDT first vice president and head of PLDT Alpha Enterprise Jovy Hernandez said in a statement.
PLDT said the products included Akamai Web Performance solutions, meant to enhance an organization’s web presence by accelerating and fine-tuning the Internet experience for end-users across different devices, browsers, and networks.
Also being offered are Akamai Cloud Security solutions to detect potential threats and protect organizations with cyber threat defense and mitigation capabilities and Akamai Media Delivery, for high-quality viewing of web-based media assets.
PLDT said it was targeting companies engaged in e-commerce or those in media and broadcasting, tourism, banking, financial services and insurance that generate revenue from their online presence. The solutions, the telco said, would allow customers to get information easier, streamline and simplify their online transactions, and download content “faster.”
“Today’s digital-driven enterprises required a differentiated customer online experience in maximizing their revenue potential. This suite of transformative solutions from PLDT Alpha Enterprise and Akamai would certainly enable enterprises to provide a differentiated web experience to your customers—another first for the country’s pioneering digital enabler,” Hernandez said.
PLDT said its partnership with Akamai also strengthened PLDT Alpha Enterprise’s capability to deliver and manage content delivery from anywhere in the world due to Akamai’s global network.
