Toward the end of 2014, Balesin Island Club unveiled the latest creation of its visionary chair Roberto V. Ongpin (RVO, as he is known). The Balesin Royal Villa is situated on the southern side of the island, on a bluff with a resplendent view of the cool azure waters of Lamon Bay and, in the distance, the Sierra Madre mountain range on the mainland. Being on the western side of the island ensures a gorgeous sunset setting.
The Royal Villa, designed by the inimitable Rico Sison, is an opulent and magnificent structure. Meticulously designed, it takes the best of Asian royal heritage and blends it into something wholly original. This aspect is seen in its intricate filigree finished, rich fabrics and luxurious yet airy ambiance.
The long driveway leading to The Royal Villa is flanked by white balustrades, which gently wrap around the property. It is reminiscent of European promenades and times gone by. On each side are two Maharlika sentinels standing guard to great members and guests. Serving as roundabout is an ornate, two-tiered fountain that is located in front of the entrance.
Elegant space
Upon entering the main grand entrance, The Salon is the elegant space that could accommodate up to 350 guests for sit-down banquets. The well-appointed function hall has a designated food and beverage area that is fully serviced by the island’s staff.
Breakfast may be taken in-room as one enjoys the vistas of the sea. While there is no signature restaurant, meals from a choice menu representing the best of Balesin’s culinary fare may be preordered.

Accommodations-wise, The Balesin Royal Villa is above everything else. Each of the 10 Royal suites (120 square meters) has a terrace that provides direct access to two outdoor swimming pools with jet bubblers and the beautiful beach. On the upper level are four Maharlika suites (317 sqm) with their own living area, terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi. All suites at The Balesin Royal Villa have magnificent views of the sea, and accommodate up to four people each.
For the select few that have the privilege of staying at The Royal Villa, stepping out is not necessary. With its own entertainment options such as a state-of-the-art karaoke room as well as billiard table and table football, along with a full bar, one can just stay in. As mentioned, two pools for the exclusive use of The Balesin Royal Villa’s guests are available, but those who prefer the feel of sand can wade into the sea from the private, white-sand beach.
If you would like to venture to other villages or locations on the island, a four-seater golf cart is assigned to each suite.
