MANILA, Philippines – The prices of pandesal and Pinoy Tasty will not increase despite the additional duties on Turkish flour, the Philippine Baking Industry Group president said on Tuesday.

Nestor Constancia in an interview over Inquirer Radio 990AM said the Department of Agriculture’s anti-dumping duties imposed on imported Turkish flour will not result in an increase in bread prices.

He made the statement after the Filipino Chinese Bakers Association said bread prices may increase due to the additional duties on Turkish flour.

The agriculture department imposed the additional duties on Turkish flour to level the playing field in the local flour industry.

In a separate interview with Inquirer Radio, trade undersecretary Vic Dimagiba also said additional taxes on Turkish flour will not affect Filipino bread because the latter use locally milled flour.
