Nutritional supplement for those undergoing chemotherapy

RESURGEX Select helps patients get the healthy calories and high-quality nutrients they need.

Chemotheraphy has long been seen as a way to prevent cancer cells from growing.

Defined by chemotherapy.com as the treatment involving the use of chemical agents, chemotherapy is said to eliminate and destroy cancer cells. It can be administered through a vein, injected into a body cavity, or delivered orally in the form of a pill, depending on which drug is most suitable for the patient.

However, the problem with chemotherapy is that it cannot distinguish the good cells from the bad and thus, it can potentially destroy as well the other good fast-growing cells.

Debilitating effects

While most people can attest to the effectivity of chemotherapy in treating cancer, its debilitating effects cannot be ignored. People who undergo chemotherapy are prone to certain side effects such as vomiting, nausea, hair loss, fatigue and often loss of appetite.

“Right now there is a void when it comes to the (available) supplements that would aid patients in their recovery after a chemotherapy session,” noted Jeffrey Santos, product manager at New Marketlink Pharma Corp.

“We are treating cancer through chemotherapy, but we are not tackling its effects. People must understand that after every chemotherapy session, patients can’t eat, they vomit and even experience stomatitis. Their immune system goes down,” Santos pointed out.

In an interview with the Inquirer, Santos explained that a chemotherapy cycle is usually done after either 14 or 28 days and during this period, every cancer patient needs to regain his/her energy and strengthen himself/herself to be able to finish and go through another chemotherapy session.

It would be ideal if one could get a cancer patient to eat complete meals, but due to chemotherapy side effects, this does not always happen. In fact, the loss of appetite causes the patient’s immune system to weaken. Patients then will not be allowed to undergo the next chemo cycle as this could further pull down their immune system and could even lead to death, Santos claimed.

Nutritional support

New Marketlink Pharma Corp. has come up with its Resurgex Select product, a unique, whole food-based quality ingredient formula that serves as a comprehensive nutritional support for actively treated cancer patients, as well as those in post-treatment care.

It has been clinically proven to assist in weight management, reduce fatigue and support immunity among cancer patients undergoing or recovering from chemotherapy and radiation treatments, according to Santos.

“Resurgex Select helps patients get the healthy calories and high-quality nutrients they need, so they feel stronger and more energetic,” Santos said.

“Our objective here is to allow people to undergo chemotherapy cycle longer. We introduced the product because we feel that nobody is handling the support system of people who undergoes chemotherapy and its effects,” he explained.

“Its formulation makes it superior to other nutritional supplements available in the market. It combines dietary fiber, low sugar and high protein with no added anti oxidants, to become a high-calorie supplement,” Santos added.

Resurgex Select can be taken twice daily and is available in leading

drugstores.

“It’s easy to prepare, just blend it with cold water and it’s equivalent to one complete meal. Also, Resurgex doesn’t have a fishy smell or taste like the other products currently available in the market. It comes in flavors that Filipinos would surely appreciate,” Santos concluded.
