BPI app down again after brief restoration

MANILA, Philippines – Bank of the Philippine Islands’ (BPI) mobile banking services went down again on Tuesday, just hours after the lender announced that access had been restored following a days-long disruption.
In an advisory issued at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, BPI said its mobile banking services had been restored after unexpected network connectivity issues affected its systems.

However, the bank warned that customers could still experience slower response times as transaction volumes normalized.
But as of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, users were once again reporting difficulties accessing the BPI mobile app and online banking services.
Furthermore, the disruption began June 14, when BPI said at 3:14 p.m. that its online banking channels, including its app, third-party logins, and debit and credit card transactions, were unavailable.
Over the next two days, the bank issued updates assuring clients that branches, ATMs, and cash accept machines remained operational. BPI said the outage did not affect payroll crediting for corporate clients.
BPI said its teams continue to monitor and stabilize system performance as access to its digital banking services normalizes. INQ
